Out-of-state firewood banned in Maine…

Probably most of you have seen the notices but I thought that it might be good to do a post on this anyway. The Maine Legislature has banned all out-of-state firewood. The firewood from out-of-state can bring harmful insects and diseases that can destroy our forests.

The two major threats to our forests are the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) and Asian Longhorned Beetle (ALB) .  Thus far, they have not been found in Maine. To go directly to the Maine website for more info, please click on the graphic below or call the Maine Forest Service at (207) 287-2431 .
